Despite the wound, Caldwell was able to restrain Mitchell until additional officers arrived.

Caldwell was first transported by ambulance to Meadville Medical Center and then transferred to UPMC Hamot Trauma Center in Erie for further treatment.

Mitchell was taken to Meadville Medical Center for evaluation before being placed in the Crawford County Correctional Facility. He faces charges including attempted homicide, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and terroristic threats. Arraignment is pending.
