A Springboro man is facing charges following a residential burglary in which a dog and a smartphone were reported stolen from a home in Woodcock Township.
According to Pennsylvania State Police in Meadville, 51-year-old Fredrick Thornton is accused of forcing entry into a residence located at 21982 Cannon Hollow Road sometime between September 10 and September 14, 2025.
Investigators say Thornton stole a female Saint Bernard/Great Dane mix dog from the home of Kelly McCall, a 49-year-old woman from Saegertown. Police allege that after the initial break-in, Thornton returned to the property and took the victim’s Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphone, valued at $500.
The incident was reported to police, who conducted an investigation and subsequently filed charges against Thornton. The exact charges were not specified in the public information release.
No information was released on the condition or whereabouts of the stolen dog.
