One Dead, One Injured in Crawford County Crash

A Meadville man was killed and another driver injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Crawford County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police in Meadville, the crash happened around 2:40 p.m. September 2 at the intersection of State Route 18 and Agnew Road.

Police said Richard D. Eddy, 67, of Meadville, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu when he attempted to cross Route 18 from Agnew Road. Eddy’s car was struck by a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup traveling south on Route 18, driven by David M. Orr, 58, of Conneaut Lake.

The impact occurred in the southbound lane of travel. Eddy suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Orr sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported by Springboro Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance to Meadville Medical Center.

The crash remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were Summit Township Volunteer Fire Department, Springboro Volunteer Fire Department, Linesville Volunteer Fire Department, Crawford County Coroner’s Office, and Leonard’s Towing.
