The Pennsylvania State Police in Erie are ramping up efforts to combat impaired driving with a DUI enforcement operation planned for the weekend of July 10th through 13th.
As part of the initiative, troopers will conduct a sobriety checkpoint and/or roving patrols throughout Erie County aimed at identifying and deterring drivers operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
State Police are reminding the public that impaired driving remains a serious issue, contributing to preventable deaths every year. Authorities urge anyone planning to consume alcohol to designate a sober driver in advance. They also caution that both legal and illegal drugs—including certain prescription medications—can impair a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely.
The enforcement is part of an ongoing effort to keep roadways safe. Drivers are encouraged to make responsible choices and avoid getting behind the wheel while impaired.
