At its April 10 meeting, the school board also accepted retirement letters from Union City Area Middle School copy room aide Nancy Zielinski (effective June 6) and Union City Area Elementary School teacher Sarah Rodriquez (effective March 31).

The board filled a new position by hiring school psychologist Monica Weed to a five-year term beginning July 1, pending paperwork. Shawnee Swarm was also hired as a full-time refocus room paraprofessional at the middle-high school, filling a vacancy left by Anna Conner’s resignation.

New employment agreements were approved for:

  • Krista Byler, Food Services Director (three-year contract starting July 1)
  • Edward Schick, School Police Officer (four-year contract starting July 1)
  • Richard Neiswonger, School Police Officer (four-year contract starting July 1)

The board also approved a salary adjustment for 12-month support staff and increased substitute school police and security officer pay to $30 an hour, effective April 11.

Janel Pike, Marshal Pike, Victoria Proctor, Marcella Silva, and Melissa Weilacher were added to the approved volunteer list for the rest of the school year.
