The Union City Bears boys basketball team traveled to Sharon High School on Tuesday evening to take on the Sharpsville Blue Devils in the opening round of the D10 2A Playoffs.
The Bears came to play early, after being down four to start the game, the Bears would come back to tie the game at six. The Devils would lead 13-9 at the end of the first quarter.
The Bears would continue to play well in the second quarter, keeping the game at single digits as they went into the half down 26-19.
Turnovers would begin to prove costly for the Bears in the second half. The Devils would break the game open in the third quarter as they outscored the Bears 16-6 to take a 42-25 lead into the fourth.
The Bears turned it around and looked much better in the fourth quarter, bringing the Devils lead down to twelve. The Bears would go on to outscore the Devils 17-14 in the fourth, but would ultimately fall short, 56-42 ending their season.
The Bears finish the season with a record of 7-15, while the Devils improve to 12-11 on the season.
Sharpsville will move on to play the Rocky Grove Orioles on Friday night in the Quarterfinals of the D10 2A Playoffs.
