Union City’s Homecoming Weekend is shaping up to be a good one according to Union City Alumni Association President Susan Ottaway.
“Over 200 people have made reservations for Saturday’s Alumni Banquet,” said Ottaway.
Union City will host Iroquois in the Bear’s 2023 homecoming game on Friday September 15 at Bears Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM. The game will be preceded by the Union City Wall of Achievement ceremony inducting Mrs. Jeannette Boyd and Mr. David Wojtecki at 6:30 PM. The game will also be simulcast on Sunny 105.7 FM Canadohta Lake’s Greatest Hits.
The Homecoming Parade starts at 11:00 AM on Saturday September 24, rain or shine. The parade route follows W. High St. from Second Ave. and south on Main Street to Warren Glenn Funeral Home. The public is invited to see the floats up close before the parade begins at St. Teresa’s Church parking lot between 9-11AM. The parade will include this year’s winner of the Alumni Association’s Beautiful Baby Contest, Porter Shaffer. This year’s runner up is Ember Matteson.
The Homecoming Semi-Formal Dance is Saturday evening at Union City High School. Saturday’s Homecoming Alumni Banquet is is being held at St. Teresa’s auditorium at 9 3rd Ave. The doors open at 5:00 PM and dinner is at 6:00 PM.
