Union City Borough Council voted last week to approve a motion to accept the base bid of $51,365 from Constructions Services of PA for improvements to Southwest Park. The work includes installation of walkways, playground equipment and a parking area. The total project budget is just over $100,000 and includes funding from the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority, Union City Community Foundation, Pennsylvania Department of Natural Resources and several private donations. Security cameras are being considered for the park but additional funding would be needed to acquire and install the system.
