At their May 23rd meeting Union City Borough Council approved a motion to hire a part-time assistant for the borough office. The position is being filled through Adecco Staffing and is contingent upon successful background checks. According to council president Riley Cross, the borough’s personnel committee met with the candidate prior to the council meeting and agreed to request a motion to move forward with the hiring process. The position approved is a 24-hour work week at a pay rate of $16 per hour. Some of the job responsibilities include digital scanning of all borough ordinances for an upcoming codification project, general office and receptionist duties and possible accounting tasks. Some additional telephone and computer equipment is being researched for the new hire to perform the job.
