The Union City Lady Bears closed out the regular season Thursday night taking on the Rocky Grove Orioles in a region game. It was all Union City in the contest, as the girls built up a nice lead early on and didn’t look back, taking down the Orioles 51-7, closing out the regular season with a 12-10 (7-5) record, good enough for third in the region standings.

The Lady Bears will now wait until Sunday where they will find out their playoff opponent. “The girls closed out the regular season strong tonight. There was no JV game, so we had our whole roster dress and were able to get out to a nice lead and get everyone some action.” Coach Matt Moon stated following the game. “It’s always fun when you can have the entire team contribute to a region win on the road. With the win, we finished 12-10 overall and 7-5 in the region. I’m very proud of all our girls and the dedication they’ve had for the past four months. We’ll finish third in the region and that should be enough to get us into the post season. Finishing with a winning record and getting into post season play is something this program hasn’t done in over 20 years so the girls should be proud of what they’ve accomplished. We’ll see where we get seeded come Sunday afternoon and will have an entire week to get ready for whoever we play. We’ll be ready.”
