The Union City Bears were back in the Bears Den Tuesday night taking on the Cochranton Cardinals in a region game. The game was back and forth throughout, as the Bears at one point would be up by as many as thirteen, but the Cardinals would come soaring back. The Bears would hold on for a close 45-44 win, taking down the Cardinals, while improving to 7-11 (3-5) on the season.

The boys will be back in action Friday night, as they travel to Cambridge Springs to take on the rival Devils, in a big region game. “This was a huge victory for us!” Coach Shawn Thompson said in a statement following the game. “We were super close at their place and felt we had that one. The boys really wanted revenge and came through big time! They certainly like making me sweat with some missed clutch free throws but came down with big stop after big stop for most of the game. We did a nice job forcing them into some turnovers and long shots. Big win for the Bears. We’ve been saying that for these last 5 games we need to go 4-1 to give ourselves a chance at playoffs, so this one was a big win. We will now be rooting for Cochranton to get some wins to help us out! Go Bears!”
The Bears defeated the Cardinals in the JV game 33-20.
