Lady Bears Stun Panthers

Written By Cody Rose

The Union City Lady Bears hit the road on Monday night taking on the Saegertown Panthers in a big region game. Cathryn Reynolds, Jessica Messenger, and Brooke VanTassel led the Bears in scoring with 8 points each, as the Lady Bears took down Saegertown 36-28 improving to 10-9 (5-4) on the season. The girls will be back home in the Bears Den Thursday, for their final home game of the season, taking on the Youngsville Eagles. “The girls had a big first quarter tonight and never looked back. We had great ball movement again and were patient and disciplined in our half-court offense which was great to see.” Coach Matt Moon told us in a statement after the game. “It’s never easy to get a region win on the road and we got a huge one tonight. We were in control from start to finish on both ends and I’m very proud of the way we bounced back after a disappointing performance last Thursday. We have to take it one game at a time and perform each time we compete. Youngsville is next up, and we’ll take the confidence we built tonight into that one Thursday at home.”
