The Union City Lady Bears traveled to Maplewood High School on Thursday night to take on the Maplewood Tigers in a region game. Brooke VanTassel led the Bears in scoring with 6 points as the Bears fell to the Tigers 51-19 falling to 4-5 (1-1) on the season. “Tonight, was tough. We got off to a slow start again and never recovered.” Coach Matt Moon said in a statement. “I’ve got to figure out how to get the most out of our girls and turn things around. We have a lot of talent and potential and it’s my job to get them going. The last three games are on me, and I need to do better. We’ve got one practice before Saegertown comes in on Monday and we’ll make the most of it. These girls won’t quit and the staff and myself won’t either.”
