Union City Borough Council met Tuesday night and approved the budget for 2023 which kept the property tax rate fixed with no increase along with the elimination of police officer’s contributions to the pension plan and several other resolutions. A CDBG grant is expected to be awarded in the amount of $100,000 which will cover a portion of the cost of ADA ramps in certain areas in the borough. Council fielded complaints from a pair of residents regarding Tri County Industries garbage service including piles of garbage bags not being picked up, the high cost of additional items and disposing of tree limbs. The residents were informed by officials they are permitted to choose an alternate vendor for additional items above the Tri County base service and that tree limbs can be disposed of with regular trash.
