The Lady Bears traveled to Cochranton High School on Wednesday night to take on the Cochranton Cardinals in their first region game of the season. Freshman Brooke VanTassel led the team with 21 points leading the Bears to a victory over the Cardinals 50-35 improving the Lady Bears to 3-2 (1-0) on the season. The Lady Bears will be back home in the Bears Den Monday night as they take on the Corry Beavers. “Tonight, was a great win to kick off region play and to do it on the road the way we did is great for the girls.” Coach Matt Moon told us in a statement after the game. “We started off a little slow in the first half but had a huge third quarter and played strong in the fourth to finish them off. Another great team victory. We’re getting better each time we compete and that’s what you want. Looking forward to carrying this momentum into Monday when we welcome Corry to the Bears Den.”
