The Union City Girls Basketball team led by third year head coach Matt Moon traveled to Meadville High School to take on Union in the Meadville Tip-Off Tournament. Freshman Brooke VanTassel led the team with 20 points as the Bears came home with the victory 50-24 advancing to the championship game Saturday night. “A great team effort to start off the season tonight.” Coach Moon told us in a statement after the game. “We applied good pressure defensively and got out into transition which was what we wanted to do. We did some really good things in our half-court offense too which is very encouraging. We’ve got a long way to go but we’ll get better each time we compete. Back at it tomorrow.”
