Bears Take Down Braves in Season Opener

The Union City Bears Boys Basketball team tipped off their season on Friday night taking on the Iroquois Braves in the UC Tip-Off Tournament. Senior Bryce Drayer scored the first points of the season for the Bears as the Bears would go on a 9-0 run to begin the game, the Bears would lead after the first quarter 13-6. The Bears would outscore the Braves in a back and forth second quarter 14-13 as the Bears would take a 27-19 lead into the half. In what was a low scoring third quarter with both teams only scoring four points, the Bears would lead at the end of three quarters 31-23. The Bears would outscore the Braves in the fourth quarter 11-5 defeating the Braves 42-28 advancing to the tournament championship game against Erie First Christian on Saturday night.
