SARNIA, Ontario — Kase Kamzik scored the game-winning goal with just 90 seconds remaining Friday night, lifting the Erie Otters to a 4-3 victory over the Sarnia Sting and giving Erie a win to close out this portion of its six-game road trip.
Erie opened the scoring when Jack Torr recorded his first goal as an Otter. Sarnia answered with two goals from Chase Gaughan and Parker Holmes to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
Holmes added his second goal of the game in the second period to put the Sting ahead 3-1. Ulysses Lombardi brought Erie back within one with a goal assisted by Lucas Ambrosio, making it 3-2 heading into the third.
Michael Dec tied the game at 3-3 with 13 minutes remaining, finishing a play set up by Mclean Agrette. With the game still tied late, Kamzik found the net with a minute and a half left to give the Otters the lead. Sarnia pulled its goaltender in the closing moments, but Erie held on for the win.
The teams finished even in shots on goal at 28 apiece.
The Otters continue their road trip with games in Sault Ste. Marie, Flint and Saginaw. Erie returns home November 12 to host the Kitchener Rangers in its School Day Game.
