CORRY — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating two recent crashes in the region that resulted in suspected serious injuries.
The first occurred Sept. 29 at approximately 7:05 p.m. on North Perry Road in Oil Creek Township, Crawford County.
Police said a 16-year-old Corry male was traveling northbound on North Perry Road on a motorcycle when he encountered an 18-year-old Centerville man, Evan M. Matteson, driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado.
The motorcycle was negotiating a left-hand curve when Matteson attempted to move toward the edge of the roadway to avoid it. The motorcycle then struck the Silverado at approximately the 8 o’clock position.
The motorcycle operator sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported by EmergyCare to UPMC Hamot. He was wearing a motorcycle helmet. Matteson was not injured.
The second crash occurred Aug. 30 at approximately 5:19 p.m. on Deadmans Run Road in Freehold Township, Warren County.
State police said 59-year-old Terence A. Turner of Sugar Grove was traveling east on Deadmans Run Road in a 2024 Ford Bronco/Bronco II when the vehicle spun in the roadway. It left the right side of the road, struck a tree and came to rest west of the crash location with disabling damage.
Turner suffered suspected serious injuries to his neck and back and was flown by STAT Medevac to UPMC Hamot. Police said their investigation determined Turner was under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged.
