CRAWFORD COUNTY — Pennsylvania State Police have released information on three crashes investigated in Crawford County earlier this month. The crashes occurred in Concord, Sparta and Bloomfield townships, with no fatalities reported and several people escaping injury.
On Sept. 3, at about 6:15 p.m., a 20-year-old Spartansburg man was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Route 89 in Concord Township.
Police said Cameron T. Rust was traveling south when he lost control of his 2016 Jeep Cherokee on wet pavement. The vehicle left the west side of the roadway, traveled down an embankment and struck a tree with its right front corner.
Rust sustained suspected minor injuries but was not transported for medical treatment. Police cited him for driving at a safe speed. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
On Sept. 8, at about 4 p.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Route 77 and Route 8 in Bloomfield Township.
Police said a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro driven by 34-year-old Tanner L. Ruhl of Hartstown was traveling west on Route 77 when it failed to stop at a red traffic signal. The Camaro entered the intersection and struck a 2014 Mazda CX-9 traveling north on Route 8.
The Mazda was driven by 57-year-old Mark D. Rheal of Titusville and had 27-year-old Brandon J. Rheal, also of Titusville, as a passenger.
None of the three people involved were injured. Ruhl was cited for failure to stop at a red signal. Both vehicles sustained damage.
Later that evening, at about 6:53 p.m., police investigated a crash involving a car and motorcycle on Route 89 and Route 77 in Sparta Township.
Police said a 2018 Buick Enclave driven by 73-year-old Susan C. Halfast of Spartansburg was traveling south on Route 89 when she attempted to enter the roadway near the intersection with Route 77. The Buick entered the path of a southbound 2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R motorcycle operated by 20-year-old Kristopher C. Wolfe of Spartansburg.
The motorcycle struck the Buick’s front passenger-side area before continuing into a ditch. Halfast and Wolfe were not injured. Police said Halfast was wearing a seat belt and Wolfe was wearing a motorcycle helmet.
Halfast was cited in connection with the crash.
