HARRISBURG — Sunday hunting opportunities have expanded in Pennsylvania for the 2026-27 hunting seasons, with nearly all Pennsylvania hunting seasons now including Sundays within the season.
Many seasons that previously ended on Saturday now continue through Sunday. The change expands Sunday hunting opportunities across much of the state, although there are still restrictions for certain types of hunting and in some locations.
Sunday hunting remains closed for migratory game birds, including waterfowl, mourning doves and woodcock. The Pennsylvania Game Commission says those seasons are governed by federal frameworks that include specific rules for Sunday hunting. A recent Game Commission survey found that a slight majority of migratory game bird hunters wanted to keep Sundays closed for the 2026-27 season.
The Game Commission says it will continue to track hunter preferences and revisit the issue when establishing the 2027-28 seasons.
Sunday hunting also remains limited in some state parks and state preserves in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. On those properties, Sunday hunting is limited to Nov. 15, Nov. 22 and Nov. 29 in areas designated as open to hunting.
Outside those five counties, Sunday hunting is open in state parks on all dates authorized by the Game Commission. Sunday hunting is also open in state forests.
Hunters who have questions about Sunday hunting restrictions in individual state parks or preserves are advised to contact the appropriate park office.
