The PUC’s “Be Utility Wise” conference will be held Thursday, Sept. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Ambassador Conference Center, 7794 Peach Street.

The event is designed for front-line professionals who work with households facing utility affordability issues. It will bring together human service organizations, utilities, regulators, community advocates and other groups to share information about available assistance and consumer resources.

This year’s conference theme is “Building Connections to Affordability: Collaborative Strategies for Lasting Change.”

Topics will include utility affordability, customer assistance programs, energy efficiency and conservation, consumer protections, community resources and strategies for helping households in need.

The conference will include expert panels, interactive discussions, information about financial assistance programs and opportunities for attendees to connect with other organizations.

The PUC said the “Be Utility Wise” program has been part of its consumer education efforts for three decades.

Registration is currently open online through the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
