ERIE — The Pennsylvania Treasury Department will host an Unclaimed Property event in Erie on Thursday, July 30, to help residents search for money and other financial assets that may belong to them.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Erie County Public Library, 160 East Front Street. No appointment is necessary.
According to the Pennsylvania Treasury, one in 10 Pennsylvanians has unclaimed property. Statewide, more than $5 billion in unclaimed assets is waiting to be returned to its rightful owners.
Unclaimed property can include forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance payments and other financial assets that have been turned over to the state after a period of inactivity.
Pennsylvania Treasury staff will be on hand to help residents search for their names and, if eligible, begin the claims process.
