A Sugar Grove man is facing charges after Pennsylvania State Police said he allegedly struck a woman during an argument in Conewango Township.
According to police, David Syfrett, 39, was charged with simple assault and harassment following an incident reported in the Market Street area. Troopers said the alleged assault happened around 9:30 p.m. on June 19.
State police said the victim, a 32-year-old woman from Sugar Grove, reported the incident the following day. Investigators said she told troopers she was sitting in the back seat of the suspect’s vehicle in a local store parking lot when a verbal dispute began. During the argument, Syfrett allegedly turned from the driver’s seat and struck her in the right eye, causing a visible injury.
Police said the woman got out of the vehicle and later arranged a ride home with a coworker.
Following the investigation, troopers filed criminal charges against Syfrett. The case is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
