Corry City Council convened in special session Thursday afternoon and approved two key measures involving equipment and staffing for the city.
Council voted to purchase a used snow plow truck for $125,000, utilizing restricted funds for the acquisition. Officials indicated the truck will support the city’s winter road maintenance operations.
In a separate vote, council approved the hiring of a Map/GIS Coordinator at an annual salary of $62,400, plus $5,000 for the use of survey equipment. The position will also be funded through restricted funds and is expected to enhance the city’s geographic information systems, mapping accuracy, and infrastructure planning capabilities.
Following the votes, council entered into executive session. No action was taken publicly after the session.
The next regular council meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 9. That evening will also include a 5:30 p.m. Community Development Block Grant public hearing and a 6 p.m. work session at the Corry Community Center. A Comprehensive Plan meeting is set for Wednesday, March 11 at 6 p.m., also at the Community Center.
