Windsor scored first late in the opening period and then broke the game open in the second with three unanswered goals, including a power-play tally, to take a 4–0 lead after two periods. Erie got on the board midway through the third on a goal by Gabriel Frasca, but the Otters could not generate a comeback. Windsor goaltender Joey Costanzo turned aside Erie chances down the stretch as the Spitfires closed out the win.

Shots were nearly even, with Windsor holding a 26–24 edge.

The Otters hit the road next for a three-game trip, beginning Thursday with a rematch against Windsor, followed by games in Sarnia and London. Erie returns home January 16 for its final home meeting of the season with the Spitfires.
