The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is inviting the public to review and provide input on a proposed project to replace the Little Cooley Road bridge over Little Federal Run in Athens Township, Crawford County.

The bridge, located on Little Cooley Road (Route 1037) between Dobbs Road and Athens Road, was built in 1940 and is currently rated in poor condition. It serves an average of 300 vehicles per day.

As part of the project, the existing concrete T-beam structure will be replaced with a new concrete bridge. Construction will also include minor paving on both ends and roadway shoulder improvements.

Work is scheduled for the 2026 construction season, and a detour will be in place for approximately four months. The proposed 11.5-mile detour will use Route 77 and Riceville Road (Route 1039).

Project information, including digital plans, a handout, and an online comment form, is available online at http://www.penndot.pa.gov/District
by selecting “Projects Near You” and choosing District 1.

Members of the public are encouraged to review the project materials and submit feedback, particularly on how the project may impact cultural or historical resources, as part of PennDOT’s compliance with federal preservation regulations.

Those without internet access or in need of alternative formats, translation, or special accommodations can contact PennDOT Project Manager Matthew P. Antrilli at mantrilli@pa.gov
or 814-678-7169.
