Canadohta Lake will mark a milestone this weekend with the grand opening of the Lake Canadohta History Center and Lodge, a new space dedicated to preserving local history and serving the community. The celebration takes place on Saturday, June 28, beginning at noon at the center’s location, 36166 Lake Road, the former site of Our Lady of Fatima Chapel.

The day will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by tours of the newly renovated space. Visitors will have the opportunity to view exhibits that highlight the cultural, natural, and architectural heritage of the Lake Canadohta region through artifacts, photographs, and multimedia presentations.

“This is about preserving our past while building something meaningful for the future,” said Pam Roberts, president of the Lake Canadohta Historical Society. “The center symbolizes the union of history, nature, and community, and we’re proud to share it with our neighbors and visitors.”

Adding to the festivities, Tom Lavery from Sunny 105.7 Radio, Canadohta Lake’s Greatest Hits, will be broadcasting live from the event.

The grand opening will also include live musical performances by Mary Dodson Brown and Amy Learn, along with light refreshments and access to the new lodge rental space, designed for events like reunions, parties, and community gatherings.

Before the ribbon cutting, at 11 a.m., the center will host its first historical book club meeting led by Ann Bergheim, featuring All in a Day’s Work by investigative journalist Ida Tarbell. The session is open to the public with no registration required.

The Lake Canadohta Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, relies on donations and fundraising to support its mission. The new center will serve as both a repository of local history and a space for future educational and cultural programming.

Hours of operation for the center will be announced at a later date.
