A 22-year-old man from Cochranton was killed in a motorcycle crash on June 7, in Randolph Township, Crawford County.
According to Pennsylvania State Police in Meadville, the crash happened at approximately 3:25 p.m. on State Highway 27, just over 500 feet east of New Road.
Troopers say the rider, identified as Jacob Smith, was operating a 2024 Kawasaki EX650 Sport motorcycle when he lost control while navigating a right-hand curve. The motorcycle exited the southern side of the road, struck a ditch, and Smith was ejected from the bike. He then collided with a tree, sustaining fatal injuries. He was not transported by EMS and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. No other vehicles were involved, and no charges have been filed.
The Pennsylvania State Police listed the cause as driving on roadways laned for traffic – single vehicle.
No further details have been released.
