The Union City Lady Bears softball team was back on the road on Wednesday afternoon as they traveled to Seneca to take on the undefeated Lady Bobcats in another region game.

After the Lady Bears went down in order to start the game, Alara Bem led off the game for the Bobcats swinging on the first pitch that would go for a single. Bem would later score the game’s first run on a sac-fly by Haylee Farell to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead after one inning of play.

Following a scoreless second inning, the Bobcats would send ten to the plate in the bottom of the third scoring seven runs on six hits to take an 8-0 lead through three innings.

Alivia Zielinski would deliver the Bears first hit of the game with a lead-off single in the top of the fourth. Grace Chapman would single two batters later, the Bears couldn’t make anything of it however as a strikeout would end the inning with no runs across.

The Bobcats would start their half of the fourth with a pair of singles by Alara Bem and Mallory Hammill. Sophia Primavere would then drive the runners home on a two-run RBI triple, and scoring herself to give the Bobcats an 11-0 lead through four innings.

Following a single by Alyssa Tingley in the top of the fifth, the Lady Bears would have a runner in scoring position looking to avoid the shutout. The Bears couldn’t get Tingley across however as the Bobcats would go on to win the game 11-0 in five innings.

Sophia Primavere would earn the win for the Bobcats throwing five shutout innings, surrendering three hits, along with ten strikeouts and one walk.

The win improves the Bobcats to 9-0 (3-0) on the season, while the Bears fall to 7-3 (4-1).
