Hall was already detained with a $100,000 bail for a February 23 hostage incident involving unlawful restraint, assault, terroristic threats, harassment, and animal cruelty. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Hall broke into Lottsville Millings Inc. in Freehold Township, stealing $160 worth of goods and causing $300 in damage. Surveillance footage linked him to another burglary in Sugar Grove.

On February 27, State Police executed a search warrant at Hall’s home, recovering stolen items and clothing linked to both thefts. During an interview at the jail, Hall identified himself in the surveillance images and mentioned taking Xanax before the crimes, resulting in memory loss of the events.

The original hostage situation involved Hall allegedly holding a woman and her service dog against their will for three days, during which he committed acts of violence against both. The victim eventually managed to alert a friend to call 911 while Hall slept nearby with a knife.
