Congressman Mike Kelly (R-PA) was in Corry Friday for a check presentation at a ceremony at the Corry Higher Education Building. Impact Corry is receiving $500,000 in Community Project Funding for the organization’s ongoing Corry Area Technology & Cyber Hub (CATCH) project. The money will go toward installing high-speed broadband infrastructure across the Corry area, along with a regional cloud system, work-at-home job training, and other technology-related initiatives.
“Reliable internet is a critical tool for both families and businesses to succeed in the twenty-first century. The work Impact Corry is doing to establish high-speed internet in this corner of Erie
County is a gamechanger, and it aims to provide a return on taxpayer dollars,” said Rep. Kelly.
Other speakers at the event were PA Representative Jake Banta, Erie County Executive Brenton Davis, Erie County Councilman Charlie Bayle and Corry Mayor Michael Baker. The emcee for the ceremony was Kim Thomas, Executive Director of Infinite Erie.

Joseph Bzorek of Michael Baker International, the CATCH Project Manager, explained some of the advantages users of the network will experience.
“Some of the highlights of the network include remote work and higher education opportunities, increased property values and less downtime,” said Bzorek.
A tour of the Corry Higher Education Council building followed the reception. The top two floors of the structure are currently being renovated and will be the home of the new Corry Area Technology Center.
