The inaugural installment of the all-day music festival, Rocking With Heroes, kicks off at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 29th and runs until 11:00 p.m. at the Union City Fire Department. The event is free and open to the public. All proceeds will benefit the fire department.
Six regional bands will be featured throughout the day: Taylor Remaid, Dan Douglas Band, Crush, Knuckle Down, Hooligans Holiday, and Cherry Bomb of Erie. DJ Goodtimez will be providing the sound for the event and the photo booth. He will also be selling t-shirts to help support the fire department. For each shirt sold, $10 will be donated back to the fire department.
The festival is being organized by AJ and Nicole Ross. AJ is the Fire Police Sergeant and Nicole is the Fire Police Captain at the Department.
“Along with fundraising, hopefully this event will help bring more volunteers into the Fire Department,” AJ said. “When we’re sending out an ambulance, we have a second one at the station but we don’t know if we’ll be able to man it to go to the next call.”
Channel 98.9 FM Radio in Corry is the Official Media Partner for this event. Brian Silvis, Program Director at the station said the event serves several purposes for the community.

“All Volunteer Fire Departments in our area are struggling with funding and manpower,” said Silvis. “This event hopes to raise funding and interest in the fire department and promote our local artist at the same time. One of our missions at Channel 98.9 is to support local community organizations like our fire departments and promote the local music scene.”
Channel 98.9’s Nigel Metal will be broadcasting live from the event. He will also have chances to win prizes.
Along with music there will be plenty of food and vendors on hand including Jessica Peters, Vicki Lowe, Scott Stiffler with kettle corn and honey, Justine Price, Sissy Montgomery providing the dance booth, Brianna Mcgrath, Lisa Beldon, Maikayla Fisher, Shawna Alexander, Fowlers Concessions, Megan Allen, Jeff and Connie Miller, Gail Reynolds, Kyra Hajec, Ursula Isman, Pamela Walton, Tiffany Gollnitz, Lacey Wotus, Dot Sipes and the Family Support Center.
