Bears Fall in Final Game to Devils as Kania Reaches 1000 Yards

The Union City Bears were back at Bears Stadium on Friday night under the lights as they took on the rival Cambridge Springs Blue Devils in the final game of the season. It was a defensive battle for the majority of the first half as the game would remain scoreless until the Devils scored their first points with 1:09 remaining in the opening half, as Brandon Hoover would hit a wide-open Parker Schmidt for the easy touchdown. Tristen Mazzadra scored on the two-point conversion as the Devils took an 8-0 lead. Devils leading Back Brett Kania ran it in from three yards out to score the Devils second touchdown of the contest with 8:46 remaining in the third quarter to give the Devils a 14-0 lead. Kania would score his second touchdown of the game early in the fourth quarter, reaching the endzone on a ten-yard run to give the Devils a 20-0 lead. Kania entered the game needing 107 yards to reach 1,000 on the season, he finished the game with 144. Bears Back Skylar Olmstead finished the game with 32 yards on the ground, as he finishes his season having rushed for 886 yards and eight touchdowns. The Devils took down the Bears by a final score of 20-0, as Union City wraps up their season with a 3-6 (1-4) Region 2 record, while the Devils improve to 9-1 (6-1) in Region 1 and move on to the playoffs next week.
