Erie Man Charged in Shootout with Police

An Erie man will face multiple charges in a shooting with police Tuesday in Millcreek Township. An arrest warrant has been issued for 26 year-old Keegan Gabriel Baker. Baker is charged with Attempted Criminal Homicide, Five Counts of Aggravated Assault, Arson, Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Attempted Murder on Law Enforcement and Assault of Law Enforcement Officer.

The police report states on Tuesday at 3:06 PM Millcreek Police Department received a call that there was an unwanted guest at the residence located at 1045 East Gore Rd. Once the caller contacted law enforcement, the caller retreated to a safe location away from the residence. Two Millcreek officers arrived on scene at 3:20 PM. The officers on scene requested additional units for a barricaded male inside the residence and a house fire. Additional Millcreek officers and State Troopers arrived on scene to assist. The suspect appeared in the doorway of the front entrance of the residence and began firing at the officers. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect multiple times.

Baker was transported to Hamot by ambulance for medical attention. Once the scene was secured Millcreek Twp. Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire at the residence. No officers or other individuals were injured during this incident. Due to this being an active investigation and both department’s policies, the names of the officers involved will not be released.
