Union City Borough Council approved a pair of bids for street paving and seal coating at Tuesday’s meeting. Cross Paving was awarded the paving contract of $94,756.68 . The work will be paid with approximately $15,608 in county aid and $79,148.68 from the PA Municipal Liquid Fuels Program. The base bid includes paving on Johnson Street from Gillette St. to the Senior Center driveway, Fifth Avenue between South St. and W. High St. and Putnam St. from Prospect St. to 46 Putnam St. Council also approved an option for work on Grant St. for $11,887.00 to be paid from the General Fund.
The contract for seal coating was awarded to Suit-Kote Corporation and includes work on the north end of Wattsburg St. to the borough line, Elm St., Parade St. and Second Ave. The Suit-Kote bid was $29,367.50 and will be paid with approximately $12,403.22 in Liquid Fuels funding and $16,964.18 from the General Fund. The seal coating contract award is contingent upon the approval of several other area municipalities that were included in the bidding process through Mark Corey & Associates.
