Cement caps were added recently to the brick pillars that join the fencing at the site of the former Union City Diner. The work is part of the Gateway Project spearheaded by Union City Pride. The organization purchased the diner in 2019 and it was razed on August 4, 2022 after being vacant for over 20 years. Work continues on the project which also includes the small industrial park on the northwest corner and the area on the southeast near Ace Hardware.
