The Union City Lady Bears Basketball team traveled to Meadville High School on Saturday afternoon to take on the Seneca Bobcats in day two of the Meadville Tip-Off Tournament. Junior Cathryn Reynolds led the team in scoring with 12 points, but the Lady Bears fell just short falling to the Bobcats 37-31. The Lady Bears will be back in action Tuesday night in the Bears Den in a rematch against Seneca. “Tough loss tonight but every loss is a learning experience. We played good defense and got shots offensively but couldn’t buy a bucket in the second half.” Coach Matt Moon told us in a statement after the game. “Going 2 for 13 from the line didn’t help either but you’re going to have nights like that. We’ll work on things Monday and get another shot at Seneca on Tuesday at home. We’ll be ready.”
Game stats:
Cathryn Reynolds – 12 points
Brooke VanTassel – 9 points
Brookelyne Wienczkowski – 4 points
Angie Hopson – 2 points
Grace Chapman – 2 points
Lucy Higley – 2 points
