New Snow Law Takes Effect

A new law requiring drivers to remove snow and ice from vehicles is now in effect in Pennsylvania.  Drivers are required to remove ice or snow from their vehicles within 24 hours following heavy winter storms. The law strengthened previous ice and snow removal laws that only allowed for the penalization of a driver if snow or ice falling from their vehicle resulted in serious bodily harm. Governor Tom Wolf signed HB 1094 in July after it was unanimously passed in the legislature.
