The Union City Lady Bears Volleyball team was at the Cochranton Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. Other teams in the Tournament were: Cochranton (host), Northwestern, Harborcreek, Saegertown, Meadville, Fort Leboeuf, North East, West Middlesex, Warren, Cambridge Springs and Corry for a total of 12 teams.

Results:

First pool bracket: Union City was in the South Pool with North East and West Middlesex finishing in 2nd place behind North East with a 1-3 record. 

1st – North East 

2nd – Union City 

3rd – West Middlesex 

Vs. West Middlesex 

-Set one: 12-15 L

-Set two: 16-14 W

Vs. North East 

-Set one: 9-15 L

-Set two: 9-15 L

Second pool bracket: Union City was in the Silver Pool with Corry, Fort Leboeuf and Harborcreek finishing in 3rd place behind Corry and Harborcreek with a 2-4 record.

1st – Corry

2nd – Harborcreek 

3rd – Union City 

4th – Fort Leboeuf

The Lady Bears then entered the playoff bracket as the Silver Pool #3 seed taking on the Bronze Pool #2 seed Northwestern in the first round. The Lady Bears would win the match and advance to the next round to face the Gold Pool #2 seed Cochranton. The Lady Bears would end up losing the match and were eliminated from the tournament. The Lady Bears finished the day with a 4-8 record.
