The Union City Bears softball team was back in action on Tuesday afternoon, taking on the Northwestern Wildcats in the regular season finale. The Lady Bears would fall behind early as the Wildcats would take a 5-0 lead in the third inning. The Bears would get four of those runs back in the bottom of the third, as Alissa Leech and Cathryn Reynolds would each drive in a run, while Lucy Higley would extend her home run record, her fourth on the season. The Lady Bears would score once more in the fifth, as Kaegann Gregor would single to score Alissa Leech who reached on a double. In the end it wasn’t enough for the Bears however, as they would fall to Northwestern 8-5, as they end the regular season with a 9-10 (7-9) record. The Lady Bears will now set their sights on the District 10 Playoffs, which will begin next week.
