The Union City Bears baseball team was back on their home field on Monday afternoon, taking on the visiting Eisenhower Knights, while honoring their seniors on Senior Night. The Bears would strike first in the second inning, as Desmond Pieper would hit a single driving in Bryce Drayer for the Bears first run. Miles McCaslin would follow that up by hitting a two-run RBI single, to give the Bears a 3-0 lead through two innings. Fast forward to the fourth inning, Bryce Drayer would single and later score on a wild pitch. Freshman pitcher Luke Racop would have a perfect game going into the fifth, when the Knights would finally have their first base runner, as Jastin Darr would reach on a walk. The Bears would get out of the inning without any harm done however, as the Knights would strand runners at second and third. Trevin Capela would drive in Miles McCaslin with an RBI single in the fifth, and Desmond Pieper would hit a triple and score on a bad throw, to extend the Bears lead going into the seventh. The Knights would go down in order in the seventh inning, as Racop would finish the game off with a swinging strikeout, as freshman pitcher Luke Racop would throw a no-hitter, leading the Bears to a big 6-0 win over the Knights on Senior Night, earning the Bears their second straight victory, as they improve to 6-10 (5-10) on the season. The Bears will look to stay hot as they host the Maplewood Tigers on Tuesday afternoon, in their final home game of the season.
