At their Tuesday meeting Union City Borough Council heard from Chris Groner, the Erie County Redevelopment Authority’s VP of Capital Finance and Lending. Groner informed council that in June the authority will be submitting their plan to the PA Department of Community & Economic Development for renewing the Keystone Enterprise designations of several municipalities in Erie County. All but the city of Erie’s have expired. The program allows businesses in the designated areas to apply for low interest financing and, in certain cases, tax credits for making sizable investments in the community. Groner wants to include the Union City business corridor in the plan and council agreed, voting to approve a resolution endorsing the county-wide five year renewable plan.
Board president Riley Cross asked if there was anyone in attendance that wanted comment on the plan prior to the vote. There were no comments from the public.
Groner had previously addressed council last fall.
