Union City borough council on Tuesday discussed the request by Bloomfield township to rent the borough’s Pelican street sweeper to clean certain roads at Canadohta Lake and Lincolnville. Borough manager Cindy Wells presented council with her research on going rental rates for sweepers. Several council members voiced concerns about liability issues and who would be responsible if it was damaged in any way. In the end council determined they are not interested in renting the sweeper but will inquire to see if Bloomfield township is interested in purchasing the unit as it will be going up for sale in the near future.
