Union City Spring Sports Preview: Baseball

Written By Cody Rose

It’s the start of a brand-new season for the Union City Baseball team as the Bears along with Head Coach Pat Uber, come into the 2023 season hoping to improve on last year’s up and down season. The Bears who were fielding a very young team finished last season with a 6-11 (6-10) region 3 record, making the playoffs, but lost in the first round to Wilmington 10-0. The Bears will have a few holes to fill after losing players like Matt Bennett, Cole Desimone, Anthony Bowes, Luke Leech and Kyler Shaffer to graduation, but return with a young group of players with some veteran talent sprinkled in as well such as: Trevin Capela, Daithin Kent, Quinlan Magee, as well as Seniors Bryce Drayer, Wyatt Post and Miles McCaslin. Time will tell if this young team can step up and improve on last year’s results.
