At their meeting last week Union City Borough Council approved a reverse assessment resolution. Properties transferred at a price which would result in at least an additional $500 in tax revenue will now have their assessed values automatically appealed following the sale. It was reported during the meeting that the borough’s new truck has arrived. The truck comes with an extended plow which does not have a rubber blade so the plow will be traded in for a 10 ft. straight plow that does. During the hearing of visitors, resident and chicken owner Kim Uber told council she and her husband feel they are being harassed by borough code enforcement over minor violations pertaining to their chicken coop while ignoring other code violations throughout the borough. Council passed an ordinance last year allowing chickens inside the borough under certain conditions.
