The Union City Lady Bears went up against the Cochranton Cardinals in a region game on Thursday night hoping to improve their record back to over .500. The Bears who were led by Jessica Messenger with 9 points, led wire-to-wire earning their third straight win, defeating the Cardinals 38-22 improving to 9-8 (4-3) on the season.

The Lady Bears will be back on the court next Thursday in a tough region game against Maplewood in the Bears Den. “We got off to a great start tonight which sparked our confidence for the entire game.” Coach Moon stated after the game. “Our ball movement was good, we rebounded well, and we played solid defense from start to finish. Tonight, was a big region win for us and I’m really proud of the girls and the effort they put forth. We’re playing well right now, but the girls know they still haven’t had their best game yet and that’s what you want this time of year. 5 games left and we’ll look to get better each time out. Once you’re in the playoffs anything can happen, and we’ll be a tough out if we can get a spot.”
