The Union City Lady Bears traveled to Reynolds High School on Saturday afternoon to take on the Reynolds Raiders in a non-region game. The Bears started off strong outscoring the Raiders 13-5 in the first quarter, the next quarter wasn’t as easy though as the Bears would score only two points falling behind at the half 18-15. The game continued to be back and forth until near the end of the third quarter, as the Lady Bears began to pour it on outscoring the Raiders 22-8 in the second half, coming home with a 37-26 victory, and improving to 7-8 (2-3) on the season. The Bears will be back home for a region game on Monday night against Rocky Grove. “Quick turnaround after last night and we weren’t on top of things in the first half, but we got it together in the second and played good team basketball.” Coach Matt Moon remarked. “Nothing was falling for us early on but the girls are resilient and I’m proud of the way they finished. Great team defense and we moved the ball well to give us scoring opportunities in the second half. It’s tough traveling that far on a Saturday afternoon and they handled the adversity that was thrown at them. On to Rocky Grove on Monday at home.”
