The Union City Lady Bears were in Girard on Monday night taking on the Girard Yellowjackets in a non-region game. Brooke VanTassel led the Bears with 14 points, as the Lady Bears took down the Yellowjackets in a blowout, 53-20 earning their second straight win and improving to 6-6 (2-2) on the season. “We came out with great energy and intensity tonight and kept it going the whole game.” Coach Matt Moon told us after the game. “Our goal going in was to start the second half of the season off right and we did that. We played good, intense defense and really moved the ball well on offense. We’re taking things one game at a time and next up Cambridge Springs comes to the Bears Den Thursday. Two practices to prepare and we’ll be ready for the challenge.”
