The Union City Bears took on the North Clarion Wolves in a D9/D10 Boys Basketball showdown on Friday night in the Bears Den. The Bears would start off well ending the first quarter with a 14-12 lead, everything would fall apart for the Bears in the second quarter however as the Wolves would go on a 16-2 run, outscoring the Bears 19-8 in the quarter as the Bears trailed 33-20 at halftime. The Bears would start of well in the second half going on a 6-0 run to begin the third quarter getting the Wolves lead down to seven, but the Bears couldn’t close in any more than that as North Clarion would defeat Union City in a blowout 67-46 as the Wolves’ Aiden Hartle would score 36 of the team’s points dropping the Bears to 2-3 on the season. Bryce Drayer would lead the Bears with 19 points. The Bears will be back in action on Friday, December 23rd as they travel to Reynolds in a doubleheader with the girls.
